Anklet a piece of jewellery, Is It??????

Myths of Anklet

Women who wear an anklet are mostly oblivious of it's meaning right? I refer to those of us in the "Western World" I think that this piece of jewellery belongs within a select few and has a meaning all of it's own! But where did this idea come from? I see in my research, the anklet as a piece of jewellery has come from the Indian women. Correct me if I'm wrong please, but is merely an ornament on the foot of an ordinary woman, and there is no hidden meaning or agenda behind it. Almost like the "glass" bangles the Indian women wear on their wrists to indicate their commitment to just one man. (Again I need some clarification on this). If it is indeed a myth, it is a beautiful one... When her husband dies, she clashes her wrists together and breaks the glass bangles. Therefore, an indication of her love to him, and if indeed she survives, an indication that she is still a very worthy woman. If you're reading this... perhaps you can put me straight please :) For those of you in the "know"with my own perception, I need your help on the meaning of the Anklet on how it is perceived to be today. I'm asking this question because I have an inside "Western" view as to what the anklet means... As the young naive wife many years ago of a military man who was away from home quite a lot... I was presented with a small box one Christmas morning. It was a delightful gift... I then proceeded to try to place it upon my wrist! "No" he said...."It goes here"... And he gently took the lovely gold chain from my fingers and placed it on my ankle! Oh okay.... I had never thought of placing a chain on my ankle before! It was indeed very pretty thing, and I wore it all summer (Christmas time in Australia) So later I discover the "chain" on the ankle means something other than decoration! If on the right ankle (to which mine was placed) It means there is a HOT woman here, and you may ONLY approach her if "I" say so... (Haha, little known to me, I was forever chained to a man that WON'T tolerate any sexual advances by another man) His way of looking me into another contract! Not that I needed to be told! Then, on the other ankle so to speak, you can take your wife and place an anklet on her left ankle... Well now it appears to get more interesting! The Left anklet is a sign that the woman is taken but is available to others. If worn with letters such as "Q" it means if she is a white woman, she will take a black man. If she wears it over her stockings, it means she will take you "bareback" If under the stockings, only with a condom! So in the hot summer here in Australia, NO stockings, Well what do you do then? How confusing are these signals to those of you who think you understand  his protocol? What if you just wanna, as a lady wear one? It's a conundrum!
